An idea going around lately is developing a vision for the farm. I personally think this is a great idea for many reasons. Once agreed upon, there is a direction to move forward. It also puts people’s ideas in writing. Writing something down and working on the text helps to clarity the ideas trying to be expressed. I look forward to this effort and I encourage others to begin developing vision and mission statements. First, explore the information in the link to gain an understanding about these statements. Then return and start brainstorming in the comments below. Once the ball is rolling, a second post will be written to aggregate the comments and start developing the vision. The point being – Go nuts! Don’t hold back. Let us know what you think the community should be…
Upcoming meeting
Exciting news for the farm – there is a meeting of dragonfliers scheduled for next week. This will be the first of many I am sure. There has not been a meeting in sometime. Longer than usual anyways.
There is much to talk about and this first meeting is certainly not going to cover all the topics that are on peoples minds, but at least it is a step in the right direction.
There will be a follow-up post after the meeting.
Piano
The end of era. The piano in the main house at Dragonfly is moving on. It will be loved and cared for at Mad Beaver (i.e. no more freezing and thawing). This will free up some space in the main house, which is part of the continuing effort to reduce clutter in the house. For this momentous event, Stu, Wayne, Olathe, and myself are here and we are awaiting recruits (Rocky, Blair, Tammy, possibly others)…. Oh, they just arrived. Gotta go.
Moved In, Day one
Well here we are.
It was a fun trip northward. It started last Friday. There was a rush to get everything packed and in the truck by Saturday. A feat with two kids. We had some great help though – holy moly! Two great housemates, and their wee one, a great father-in-law, and a great business client/friend. I am grateful. Once we got here there was a great group helping us as well. Rocky, Brian, Patty, Andy, Wayne, and possibly others I didn’t know were around. It took about a day to pack, and about a half hour to unload. Thanks for all the help everyone.
All our stuff is in a storage container, and then we rested for a day.
Now it is day two and we are working away…
I’ll post more about that later.
On their way
The family are on their way- ETA is 9 pm tonight (Sunday Nov 27th)…
The move
This is the first in a series of posts regarding my move to Dragonfly.
My family and I are moving to Dragonfly. First there is my lovely wife, for which I must be in love because this challenging move is, in many ways, simply for her. Next there are my munchkins: Clark (the preschooler) and Emmerich (the baby).
So, off we are to Dragonfly Farm – an intentional community. Currently, it is very small (4 residents), but if you are to ask Andy (a Dragonflier) there are many (200+) who still identify themselves as Dragonfliers because of the positive impact the place has had on their lives. More to come on the place later.
The first decision for us was to get rid of our stuff or not. Because there is certainly enough stuff stored in the main house, there won’t be room for my stuff. We decided to mostly get rid of our stuff. Some stuff will remain, but where to put it…
Hence, our new shipping container. This makes an ideal storage unit.
